The sites are very level and the grounds green and beautiful. We had to drive on a well packed, well graded dirt road a short distance. No extra amenities but it's all we need. See all Specialty Lodging in Backus. Less than a mile into town with several shops and restaurants.
Beautiful area and a cute town that looks like it has a lot going on. The grounds were beautiful, especially considering the early season weather. Nice but on the small side beach with a big water slide going into the lake and a water trampoline, free kayaks and ducks that will come and eat bread out of your hand.

His work can be found at Examiner. This is a difficult park to rate as it's still a work in progress. This resort is right in the lake with great cabins. The more important problem is very low voltage. This is a resort with cabins and campsites.
This is a Chippewa National Forest Campground. They even drop off firewood to the site and picked up the garbage. The Iron Range is a unique area rich in activities and attractions. Now what a awesome place to be.
We opted for a full hook-up site for our travel trailer. Our trailer had a full bath, but we did use the resort bath house a couple of times. The campground is so beautifully maintained and the accomodations are first class. Just a place to park with hookups for a fair price. Reservations are accepted for camping in June, July and August.
The sites are a mix of reinforced gravel there's some kind of plastic grid that lends more support to the gravel and dirt. Disc golf, mini golf and an indoor arcade are also on the list of possible activities, but on a hot summer day, the biggest draw by far is the chance to tube down the river. The woman in the office was rude and unfriendly. Our rate reflects our Senior Pass discount. Also be careful as you cross a paved multi use trail. This is a resort for fishing. The moral of that story is make sure you have an adapter with you!
The park itself is nicely landscaped by the renters at their sites and is very nice. They are nice and helpful. The couple who own the resort are very friendly and helpful. Also, if there is a lot of rain, several of the sites on the outside loop become flooded.
You park parallel to the road, long ways. Trailer passes may also be purchased at the office, can you hook and are good for the day. It's only been open since June so the facility is nice and new. My only complaint was that they weren't more upfront when we booked our reservation.
Got here on Thursday and plan to stay the weekend before moving on. Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park. The bathrooms were not cleaned regularly or well. What a pretty spot on Leech Lake! Nice relaxing family vacation.

We ended up staying here since the park we were supposed to stay for a week wanted us to stay in the worst site they had. It was quiet, not a lot of campers, which was good as there was only one men and one women's restroom, and two shower stalls. Reservations can be made on this website only. Stopped here to see Itasca State Park and the headwaters of the Mississippi.
Mine was way too high out of the ground. They are currently updating everything and the new remodels look amazing and very modern! We will definitely be back if we're in the area. There was no way I was going to try backing my unit into the space. So we woke up and had to pick up shredded garbage from the raccoons the night before. Adults will enjoy the driving range and karaoke events every weekend.

Don't know if part of the construction was to pave the road in front of the park. Water pressure is great and voltage is good. Be sure to provision before you get here - there are no grocery stores, gas stations, or anything around.

So glad we saw this park on the way. Lakes, islands, trails, ancient unique and geologically important rock formations, and millions of miles of uninterrupted wilderness make a getaway to Ely a one-of-a-kind experience of a lifetime. Some sites have beach access and some are on water front. Restrooms and showers are spacious and clean. The business side was maddening.
There is an up charge for weekend and holiday nights. Hiking trails range in difficulty from beginner to advanced, and staff hosts programs year round to help you get the most out of your visit. Great location, very close to town for groceries, restaurants, app shopping and the lake! So that was rather confusing. Our Clubhouse also offers many passtimes.
